CBD for Pain: A less invasive approach - Leaf Remedys

Have you ever had a bout of pain that forced you to visit your nearest drugstore for a much needed over-the-counter NSAID?

It’s amazing how much faith we put in those over-the-counter pain relievers. Sure, they might work… sometimes. But did you know that NSAIDs can cause ulcers, stomach bleeding, elevated liver enzymes, possible liver damage, and even death?

In fact, according to the British Journal of General Practice, “Deaths from NSAIDs remain very high: more deaths than from road traffic accidents and twice as many deaths as from asthma or cervical cancer [¹].”

While the two NSAIDs in question from these medical reviews are Diclofenac and COX-2, the medical scientists urgently noted that the safety of NSAIDs need to be explored more thoroughly before consuming [¹].

So what does this have to do with CBD?

Well, as you may already know, CBD has been involved in a number of studies. Some of which explored its unique effects on pain relief [³]. And here’s what scientists discovered…

CBD has fewer unwanted side effects

According to the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, “Human CBD short-term studies illustrate low toxicity and mild adverse effects [²].”

They go on to say the following:

“Furthermore, the role of adenosine receptors in the anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive effects of CBD is worth further study as CBD is a potent inhibitor of adenosine reuptake; therefore, adenosine receptors might be the node of CBD’s action. Moreover, it would be interesting to see the role of other molecular targets of CBD involved in pain transmission [²]…”

In other words, CBD may help restore balance into your body and thus re-establish proper bodily functions while lessening the perception of pain. But more studies are needed to confirm these suggestions.

Now, the International Journal of Molecular Sciences does warn that the effects of consuming questionable CBD gummies and other CBD products are still unknown [²].

Which is why it’s imperative that you only buy high quality, thoroughly tested, safe-to-consume CBD gummies and other CBD products from reputable hemp brands.

A balanced approach between CBD and Pain

Bottom line: More human studies are needed to really explore how CBD correlates with pain.

That said, there is no denying that high quality CBD has changed the way a lot of people have managed their overall pain.

There is lots of anecdotal evidence that suggests CBD is one of the best natural remedies available one the market today. But you have to be careful not to fall for those hemp brands that claim their CBD can cure or even treat certain types of ailments, like acute or chronic pain.

Instead, we recommend you stick toreputable hemp brands that point you to scientific studies while being transparent about how their CBD products are created.

If you’re experiencing pain, we always advise that you first consult with your doctor. But before you decide to consume a handful of NSAIDs, we recommend you do more research on CBD.

Give it a try. Who knows, it might be the aid you’ve been searching for.
